Our Story

My name is Valeria Vázquez, and I’m the maker behind 4 Chispas. In addition to making candles, I’m part of a worker-owned cooperative and work as a project manager for a nonprofit.

4 Chispas was born during a time of uncertainty, loss, and deep personal transformation. In early 2024, after leaving my job, I faced months of unemployment, illness, and worsening anxiety. At my lowest point, I remembered a dream I had set aside for years—to create something with my hands and heart. That’s when 4 Chispas came to life.

The name comes from the idea that we all carry little sparks within us. For me, they are tied to the four elements: Earth, Water, Air, and Fire—each candle inspired by their emotional energy and wellness. Candlemaking became my way to reconnect—with myself, with nature, and with the feelings I couldn’t express. Each scent carries intention, offering comfort, clarity, peace or a memory.

To me, candles are more than fragrance or light—they are small moments of warmth, memory, and pause.
